Ken Aries by KaylinYGO
>>Ken's Reference
Ken Aries is my main persona, and also a story written character.

He is a mix between a Shiba Inu and Corgi, but most resembles a Shiba. Ken is normally found wearing his beanie, jeans, and his favorite red flannel shirt. (Most of the time while he is home, he sleeps in a large short sleeve shirt and some sweatpants.)

Ken was born in a small city in Japan, only to later locate to San Francisco at the age of 4. He grew up with a small group of friends who stayed together up until high school. Only later did he join a punk band with his closest friends called 'She'll Miss Me'. The band toured all over the state, only to break up after creative differences. Later, Ken went on to make his own album called 'Devoid of Fear'.

With his music career in the drain, the young teen decided to open up a small music shop near his apartment. For about two years he worked on saving money to one day visit his birthplace again. Finally, that day came and he decided to hop on a plane and travel to northern Japan.

Once he arrived, he was informed that the city that he grew up in was deserted. Only a thick dense forest surrounded the city so it was hard to get to. He hiked forth bringing only his guitar, some water, and a few granola bars. He reached a small cabin and gently opened the door. Inside was a book with a map of what looked like the layout of the city. The map was dated for 1923, and listed the city hall. Ken decided it would be best to try the city hall, so he set forth once more through the forest.

Ken reached what was left of city hall. The equipment inside was fairly new, so it seemed that it had been at most 10 years since anyone had cleaned the place. After heading into the basement, he came across an array of books. All detailing a story about a group of serial killers who ended up killing a majority of the population. The rest of the pages were ripped out, but he could read some of the words left attached to the center. It read about reincarnation, purgatory, and hell. He could also make out a name, Raiju, it read. He picked up the book, and shoved it into his backpack.

After a few days of adventuring and a horrible dream, he decided it would be best to leave as there was nothing left of his birth town. He once more got on a plane and headed back to San Francisco.

He arrived at his apartment, and immediately fell asleep on the couch. Once he woke up, the house was trashed. Ken knew that he kept the house in perfect order, so he of course was scared. After calling Ashlyn to come over, he explained where he had been and believed he had been cursed. Ashlyn calmed him down, and suggested it was just a raccoon that got in an trashed the place.

The two talk it out and Ashlyn left. Ken walked into the living room, only to see a mound of black liquid on his sofa. The substance formed, mirroring an almost exact version of Ken. The being lifted itself off the sofa. Each step towards Ken, the being formed more of its own features. Once it had reached a foot away from the Ken, it's form more of an intimidating stance. The being spoke, and explained it had no recollection of its name and only small fragments of its past. Ken immediately ran to his bags, and took out the book. He read through the pages, and found that name again Raiju. After explaining once more where he found the book, he told Raiju that he will help him recover what was left of his memories.

Ken now spends his days working at the shop and tending to Raiju after work hours.

Some fun facts:
- Ken almost never wants to take off his beanie. For him, it's a good luck charm.

- Ken was a lead singer and guitarist in his band.

- 'Devoid of Fear' was a punk-rock album containing 6 songs. Ken only sold physical copies of the album, which was about $1000 in sales.

- Ken doesn't identify as any specific gender, but he prefers using male pronouns.

- Ken got his name from the Shin Megami Tensei game, Persona 3, after the character Ken Amada.

Raiju by KaylinYGO
>>Raiju's Reference
Raiju (or as Ken likes to call him, Ry)'s backstory is somewhat unknown.

He wondered the city for as long as he could remember, trying to find something relating to his past. One day, while taking his normal ghostly walk he saw a small child playing in the front of the park. The kid was about around the age of 4 at the most, and wore a small blue cap on his head. Out of curiosity, Raiju approached the boy. The small child looked up and asked the shadow if he wanted to play. Raiju nodded, and the kid grabbed the small toy truck on the ground. He slid the truck towards the figure, in which Raiju picked it up.

The kid giggled, as the black figure rolled the truck back and forth between him. A voice rang out and the kid told the figure it was his parents. Raiju looked up to see two adults walking toward the child, the father with a cardboard box in hand. They spoke to him, muffled. Raiju couldn't hear what they were saying, but the kid nodded. He took his mother's hand and walked away. Turning to Raiju at the last second and waving goodbye.

For the next months, Raiju continued to look for the boy but to no avail. And once the population was deserted, he was once again alone. He found a small space in the city hall and layed down, only to be taken over by sleep.

Once he woke, he heard rustling from downstairs and headed down. He saw a familiar figure, taller now, rummaging through books. He spoke to the figure, but it didn't respond. The person sighed, put a few books in its backpack and went back up the stairs to the lobby. Raiju decided to follow. The figure made its way out of the city, and back to a small hotel room. Raiju was unsure if the thing could see him, so he tried everything. From adjusting paintings, to hitting pillows off the bed. Once again, to no avail.

He ended up following the person, and once they had reached a tall building the dog opened a door with his key. The figure layed down on the couch, only to begin loudly snoring. Raiju, who watched the dog sleep for a while, decided to explore the small home. After minutes of trying to figure out the person's personality, he came across the small book in the dog's backpack. He opened it, and started reading.

It talked about a group of serial killers who ended up killing and lynching the alleged leader. The book also talks about how the leader came back as a demon, and still ended up killing and slaughtering the rest of the towns people.
The demon started to remember small bits as he was reading, only to be fueled by anger. He stuffed the book back in the bag, and in an act of rage, rummaged through the home. Finally, he was exhausted and sat down on the small sofa. He closed his eyes and let sleep take him.

The next morning, he awoke to the figure staring at him with a look of shock. Raiju lifted himself off the couch, and made his way to the figure. He spoke, and the person answered. He explained how he had gotten here, and learned that the other person's name was Ken. Ken tells him he will help find his lost memories, and ends up grabbing the book in the backpack. He pointed to the name in the book, reading as 'Raiju'. The demon responded that he believed that was his name, and the two sat down and read through the old book.

Ken believes that Raiju was involved in the conspiracy somehow, since Raiju found him when he was visiting. Raiju slacks it off, and insists he wouldn't do such thing.

Raiju now spends his days sleeping in Ken's bed waiting for him to return home every night.

Some fun facts:
- Raiju's name means 'Wolf Demon' in Japanese.

- Raiju is a ghost that can only be seen by those who believe in spirits.

- He is a demon, but he is not always evil. He is mostly sarcastic, sassy, but kind hearted in the end.

- Raiju has a plush teddy bear that he claimed as his own. He can get irritated when you pick it up without permission.

- He takes on the form of Ken on accident. As he was walking, he was describing the features of Ken to himself. That's why he resembles Ken a lot.

Ashlyn by KaylinYGO
>>Ashlyn's Reference
Ashlyn is the love interest character in the Ken story.

She met him as a child when she had moved. They grew up in different schools, but went to the same college
together. Ashlyn studied to become a lawyer, but instead ended up working as a secretary to the Zaytun's law office. Ashlyn's relationship with Ken is a rocky one. They often fight unwillingly, and make up afterward. Ashlyn is ready to move on in her life once her boss passes away, and she gets a job out in Maryland to work for the State Department. Ken insists on staying together, but they both end up falling through once she leaves.

Ashlyn is gone for about 2 years, and when she comes back is when our story starts. She meets Raiju, who ends up haunting Ken in the process. Raiju's relationship with Ashlyn is extremely tricky. They both have hatred towards each other, good and bad. Ashlyn is the second person to be able to see Raiju. TBA

Some fun facts:
- Ashlyn is work savvy, but at home complains about how much she hates her job.

Ashlyn never had a good track record with responsibility. Either that's turning in her school papers late, or showing up to work two hours after she is supposed to clock in.

Ashlyn was born in a small city in Oregon, but later moved and grew up with Ken and his friends.

She is a purebred husky who wears mostly casual and comfortable clothing.

She loves any type of uplifting music. Indie, country, and sometimes christian music.

Oni by KaylinYGO
>>Oni's Reference (TBA)
Oni is a non-Ken story related character, although the two take place in the same timeline.

Oni Zaytun was a lawyer living in a small apartment in Detroit. His dad, Morris Zaytun, was a world renowned lawyer by the time he was 25. He went to Law School and graduated with a masters degree. He met a woman named Autumn, and together raised Oni in the outskirts of Detroit. Oni in school was a quick learner, and always made sure people were fair in accusing other kids.

After Oni graduated from law school, he went to work for the state. Oni wasn't always a lawyer, though. He became an attorney who defended people who didn't have money for a decent lawyer. Two years later, he inherited his Dad's law office after his father's passing. He also took his prized baby blue tie, which Morris Zaytun was very famous for.

During one case he ended up defending an actually serial killer, who later got out of jail. It was his biggest case he had done, and got paid tons by both his client and the state. He retired to his childhood home, to only be later robbed by his ex-client and murdered. He ended up in hell for defending the killer, in which he spent days thinking of a reason to convince Satan to let him defend people who actually didn't do anything wrong. Satan, after months of thinking, accepted his offer.

Oni now defends people accused of sinful things during purgatory. He will fight for people falsely accused, so they can end up where they rightly deserve.

Some fun facts:
- The Zaytun family got their last name from the way their fur coat always turns into an dark olive color. Zaytun is arabic for 'Olive'.

- His father was from Brooklyn, and his mother was a british immigrant who moved and got a citizenship. He ended up getting a kind of mixed accent, which in turn makes him very fluent when speaking.

- All though his name is Japanese, the Zaytun family doesn't have a japanese background. Oni got his name because the first minute he was born, his mom called him a little devil. Oni is Japanese for 'devil'.

- He never always had a red tie or red eyes. In fact, his tie was blue and so were his eyes. He got them after he was sentenced to hell for all eternity, only to convinced Satan to let him defend people in purgatory.

- He is visually impaired when reading because he was hit in the face by an angry client.
